What Type Of Phone Calls Do You Recieve?

What types of phone calls do you recieve in a normal week?

Next week make a log of all the calls you and your employees recieve at your law office.  You may be surprised by the results.

Keep track of:

  1. how much time each phone call takes
  2. what was the subject of the phone call
  3. did the phone call end in a meeting request or a sale of legal work to be completed.

At the end of the week:

  • look through your phone calls
  • categorize your phone calls
    1. sales or requests for work
    2. your law firm practice specialties
    3. about your firm questions (size, location, directions)
    4. questioned that could be answered in a brochure or website
    5. questions about forms or new legal developments
    6. personal calls
    7. sum up the time spent on phone calls

If the majority if your calls are in category 1 and 2 good for you.

On the otherhand if all your calls are in category 2 – 6 you could reap some benefits by beefing up the content of your legal office website or creating a legal website.  Your office’s website should answer all the questions a potential client may have.  Ok, its not reasonable to answer all the questions, but the site should handle a very high majority of potential client questions, leaving the phone calls you really want to recieve as the only ones left to field.

As for category 6, I am not touching that one.
